Next week sees Ecobuild 2011 in London and Autodesk will be present with the UK Green Building Council. Unfortunately I won't be there due to other commitments but several of my colleagues will be. Be sure to check out the presentations they will be involved in, listed below.
The one listed first will be really relevant for any of you considering Rapid Energy Modelling, as results from our first pilot project in the UK will be presented. We have worked with the URS/Scott Wilson team on producing models and analysis using Photofly, Imagemodeler, Laser Scanning, AutoCAD, Project Vasari, Ecotect Analysis and Green Building Studio. I've certainly learnt a lot from it, especially how critical it is to follow the prescribed guidelines for Photogrammetry. How close to actual the energy results were from a very quick Vasari model was also a pleasant surprise.

URS/Scott Wilson & Autodesk
Building owners, investors and developers are increasingly challenged to understand the business case for carbon reduction.
- How can design contribute to this growing challenge?
- How are building owners changing the way they develop the building renovation business case?
- Rapidly determine the financial return for carbon reduction alternatives

Building Information Modelling (BIM) what can it achieve?
Thursday 3rd March 2011 - Check Show Guide - 2.15pm - 3.45pm
The Government’s chief construction adviser has suggested that Building Information Modelling (BIM) should be adopted for the procurement and management of all public projects. BIM is the process of developing building models which are used in presenting and visualising building components, construction sequences, resource allocation and other elements of construction process in a virtual environment. This session takes a closer look at BIM, its adoption by the industry and the efficiencies it can create throughout the design and construction process.
- Chair: Mark Bew, Business Systems Director, URS, Scott Wilson
2.15 – 2.45 What is BIM and why is the government seeking its adoption?
- Mark Bew, Business Systems Director, URS, Scott Wilson
2.45 – 3.15 Why is BIM so useful and how can it help deliver low carbon buildings
- Adam Matthews, Business Development Manager, Autodesk
3.15 – 3.45 Case study: BIM in use
- Jamie Johnston, Director, Bryden Wood Ltd

This software is amazing. I have just started to use AutoCad so I am finding my way round slowly. There is so much that can be done with this application.I will be looking at autodesk soon. I am very interested in the energy modeling. Once I am more confident I would love to come to a seminar.
